The concept of Tinder as the “physical social media” comes from two of its most distinguishing features: its main goal and its mode of use.

While other social media apps substitute face to face contact, Tinder seeks the opposite, the date, the physical encounter.

On the other hand, the immediacy of the swiping and its visual character (the profile picture takes more than 50% of the screen) makes it clear that the decision is based on the images, on the physical appearance of the candidate to be swiped.
